Reserves Win Streak Goes to 7 After a 5 Goal Thriller again Block (R)

NYIFC (R) played and got revenge against Block FC (R) on 29APR2022. While most of the match sat at 1-0 for the Boys in Black and Gold, the ending stages erupted into chaos. Block FC (R) equalized, NYIFC (R) returned fire quickly, and Block FC (R) answered in turn. In the last breaths of the game, The Lions slotted the winner against the opposition keeper and secured their 7th win on the bounce.

Goal Scorers: Alex Teodorescu, Tom Hose, Alex Teodorescu

Assists: Sulaimain Jalloh, Sulaimain Jalloh

Post-Match Interview:

Pride CSG: The match got quite lively near the end. It seems like Block had quite a lot of pace on their side, were the Boys working on tired legs near the end or did Block capitalize on some very good passes through the middle?

Coach Minty: Block are a good side. When you give them the opportunity to play, they can take advantage.

P: Seven wins in a row is nothing to sniff at. What’s been your biggest key to success in maintaining such good form?

CM: We’ve got a core group of guys who turn up week after week. We’ve built and developed a great team environment, one in which we not only play some decent football, but, also have some fun. We’ve also had some luck on our side. I’ve also had the benefit of playing with Tom Howse for five years who in turn also played with Charlie Lopez, so we all know each other’s play pretty well.

P: You have a big match this weekend against NY Ukrainians (R) on a less than ideal day, being Mother’s Day. With those factors and the Firsts missing their GK due a one match ban, do you see any major shake ups come matchday, or are those decisions made by what happens on the training ground?

CM: The Reserves will also have some noticeable absences; some regulars will be traveling for a wedding. This won’t be a huge blow though, both squads have considerable depth, so I don’t anticipate any major shake ups. Consistency is key for both teams at this stage of the season.

As stated in the interview, the Reserves will be traveling to McCarren Park at 10AM on Mother’s Day (08MAY22) to play NY Ukrainians (R) in a top table clash. The Boys in Black and Gold got the best of the Ukrainian side in their first outing on 03OCT21 with a score of 2:1 and are hoping to make it a double while both gaining ground on the first position and adding some distance from CPR Reds who are right on their heels. Both the Reserves and the First Team matches will be streamed on Game in Frame (https://player.gameinframe.com/)
